*Captain Yeatts, A Company Commander during this operation, was killed in a different action when LZ Buff (later renamed LZ Stinson for our KIA Bn CO) was hit by over 200 mortars & rockets and over-run on 12 May 69. A Company was virtually wiped out several times in Vietnam--under experienced, brave, and capable commanders. The missions were tough, and often accomplished at high cost. Note also that LTC Stinson was not assigned to A Company, but was 1/52d Infantry Battalion Commander. |
